Have you ever admired someone who has a great sense of direction and never gets lost? By taking the time to learn some tips on how to improve memory, you can be one of those people, too. Instead of suffering the embarrassment of getting lost in your own town or being fearful about being in new places, you can develop a better sense of direction by disciplining your mind. It’s easy and anyone can learn it. Having a better sense of location will boost your self-confidence and could even save lives. Pay Attention to Remember Locations By taking the time to focus on a few key principles of memory improvement and thinking techniques, it’s possible for anyone to improve their sense of location. For one thing, people with a good sense of direction rarely travel absent-mindedly to wherever they’re going. Instead, they pay attention to landmarks, intersections and places in relation to each other. They take mental notes of their surroundings as they go along. In short, they pay attention and this helps them to form a mental map of their location. So paying attention is a key factor and it’s something anyone can learn to discipline themselves to do. Remember Locations by Maintaining Your Interest Another key to remembering locations is taking an interest in them. If you knew that your boyfriend was waiting for you at a particular location, you’d certainly want to remember how to get to there. In fact, you’d be craning your neck to read street signs and watch for landmarks so you wouldn’t miss him. Or if someone paid you cash to reach a location as quickly as possible, that would be incentive enough to find the quickest route there. To improve your memory of locations, study a map of your city and learn to correlate it with your surroundings when you travel. You can also learn to pause at intersections or turns to fix landmarks clearly in your mind. Try to see how many things you can remember even from a simple walk around your neighborhood. You can also diversify your walk by adding twists and turns. Making your own map with paper and pencil and trying to add street names and locations to it is a fun exercise that’ll help improve your sense of direction. Try to build on your own map or challenge a friend to join in. Whatever you do, remember that a key factor to improve memory and remember locations is by taking an active interest in your surroundings. There are any number of ways you could expand on the above tips for paying attention and taking an active interest. Often software programs teach these methods too just like the Ultimate Memory but the main thing is that by using these memory improvement and thinking techniques, you can improve your sense of direction and learn to remember locations easily. |
